Dear Colleagues,

we are pleased to announce EUROMECH Colloquium 655 on Cutting Mechanics of Soft Tissues: Non-linear Fracture and Contact Mechanics, taking place in Graz (Austria), from August 25th to August 27th 2025.

This colloquium aims to bring together experts from various fields – applied and fundamental scientists, physicists, engineers, and biologists – to jointly address the current challenges in the science and applications of cutting, fracture and contact mechanics, in soft biological tissues as well as biomaterials. Topics to be discussed include, but are not limited to:

• Theoretical and experimental approaches to fracture mechanics of soft tissues and biomaterials
• Cutting-based mechanical characterisation of soft tissues and biomaterials
• Needle insertion in medicine and robotic surgery
• Cutting and puncture in animals and plants
